It is no secret that since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to be a television director. Since wrapping as associate story producer on a home renovation show for the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), I have been dedicating my time to learning the craft of the scripted television director. As an organized, strategic-thinking individual, the fact that becoming a successful scripted director does not have a dedicated career path is somewhat frustrating to me. However, I think that learning as much as I can, experiencing as many live sets as I can and meeting as many people as I can are the right next steps in the process.
I also think that digging out a photograph of me at age 13 sitting on my first directors chair is good imagery to keep myself moving toward my goals.
