Seriously, ABC - THAT’S the Susan face you show to all of Los Angeles? (At least my ugly blinded-by-sun mug is sharing screen time with Olivia Munn and the Nom Nom truck.)

I am a Midwestern television fanatic working as a producer in Los Angeles.
I'm also a mensch hoping to one day become an assistant director.

Why can’t American judges wear wigs and Santa suits?
Oh, that reminds me, I must set my DVR for tomorrow night’s Law and Order: UK on BBC America.

Sometimes the best crew pick-me-up on set can be a big bowl of one of 100 of your favorite cereals from craft service.
It is no secret that since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to be a television director. Since wrapping on a show at the beginning of November, I have been dedicating my time to learning the craft of the scripted television director and assistant director. As an organized, strategic-thinking individual, the fact that becoming a successful scripted assistant director (or a director) does not have a dedicated career path is somewhat frustrating to me. However, I think that learning as much as I can, experiencing as many live sets as I can and meeting as many people as I can are the right next steps in the process.
I also think that digging out a photograph of me at age 13 sitting on my first directors chair is good imagery to keep myself moving toward my goals.
Had the chance to meet and chat with Jane Lynch today; she gave me some tips on being successful in “the industry” without being an anxiety-ridden mess. She basically told me to say “yes” to every opportunity (except porn) and to understand that worrying about having the best career isn’t the same thing as working hard to have the best career. Cool lady!
