Caine’s Arcade. This short film about a kid from East LA who made an entire arcade out of cardboard goes to show that with a great story and a passionate, talented crew (and some great songwriters), good film or television can be made on what I’m guessing is a budget of next to nothing. I’m really glad I took 10 minutes out of my day to watch this, and I might just have to make a trip across town this weekend to buy a “fun pass.”

A sampling of photos from the cities where I shot over the past several weeks. From the south to the Midwest to the mountains and cities of Utah and Nevada, I saw a variety of landscapes, filmed a variety of American opinions, cleared a multitude of locations, applied for permits for more than half a dozen cities and met all sorts of interesting people … but now it’s time to find my next [work] adventure. I just spent two weeks in St. Louis visiting family. Unfortunately, I came down with some sort of cold or allergies 4 days into the trip (don’t worry, I’m better now and currently searching for my next TV gig), so I spent a lot of time alone in my childhood bedroom. Nearly all of the time when I wasn’t blowing my nose was spent watching the entire series of the CBS show The Good Wife from start to finish. I know I’m late to the party, but from the small attention to detail to the larger character transformations over the 2.5 seasons of the show so far, it’s truly one of the best shows on television, and certainly the best scripted show on network television.

Went to Paramount Ranch today. Shows like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and Gunsmoke shot there along with dozens of features. I’ve known about it for years and always hoped I’d work on a show that shoots there. Since I haven’t (yet), I finally headed there this afternoon for a hike and a little look-see.
